By road:

For those who prefer to travel by car, the A10 and A20 freeways offer direct access to Charente from major French cities such as Paris, Bordeaux and Toulouse.

Think about carpooling: Angoulême is 4h30 from Paris, 1H30 from Bordeaux and 7h from Marseille.  

By train:

Travelers by train can also reach the region thanks to regular rail lines and the LGV Atlantique, with main stations including Angoulême, Cognac and Saintes.

From Paris:

TGV from Gare Montparnasse - Trains to Angoulême (1h45) Surgères (2h20) or La Rochelle (2h30)

Then Intercités trains to Cognac and Saintes. 

From Bordeaux:

Bordeaux - Angoulême: 0h40 - Bordeaux - La Rochelle: 2h12

From Lille and the Paris region:

Direct TGV to Angoulême from Lille (4h) Aéroport Charles de Gaulle, Marne la Vallée TGV (3h) and Massy TGV (2h20) 

By coach:
