Trout: the tributaries of the Charente

The Bandiat, although less known, is another tributary offering ideal conditions for trout fishing, particularly around the villages of Marthon and Charras.

Capturing Zander: Key Spots

Fishing for zander , a fish renowned for its cunning, is particularly popular in the lakes and ponds around Ruffec. These bodies of water provide perfect spots for this fish. Pike Fishing: The Best Rivers

Pike lovers will find what they are looking for in several Charente rivers. La Touvre is renowned for its abundant population of pike, thanks to its clear waters rich in aquatic vegetation. Likewise, the Charente , between Jarnac and Angoulême, offers numerous spots where these predators hide among the seagrass and rocks. The isolated coves and backwaters of the river are particularly popular for peaceful and fruitful fishing.

Carp Fishing in Charente: A Unique Experience

Charente offers numerous night carp fishing routes, each offering unique adventures for enthusiasts. The routes of Angoulême, Châteauneuf-sur-Charente, Sireuil, Bourg-Charente and Merpins-Cognac are among the most popular for this activity. In order to protect the carp population, specific markings ("spaghetti" markings) are attached to the base of the dorsal fin of each fish, bearing a specific number. Fishermen are asked to record the weight of the fish, the location of the catch and the number of spaghetti, and send them to the Fishing Federation. It is crucial not to remove the spaghetti from the fin to ensure accurate tracking of specimens and preservation of the species.

In addition to these courses, around fifteen ponds and private bodies of water offer tranquil settings such as the Moulin de Plachas pond, the Tâtre pond and the Galandries pond, which welcome fishermen by reservation and are managed by enthusiasts who perfectly understand the needs and expectations of fishermen.

Catfish fishing: legendary specimens

Catfish have been present in La Charente for several years and some individuals exceed 2 meters. Catching this trophy fish is often a challenge! Catfish lovers will find legendary spots in Charente, particularly around Cognac and Bourg-Charente where these predators can reach impressive sizes.
